Was born in Gaffney, SC as the middle child of three. With a Korean mother and African American father growing up in the rural South, the comedy in his life was easy to come by.
Moving to Los Angeles in 2002, Harry met Kevin Hart and later they became writing partners on much of his comedy stand-up specials. From 2009 with I’m A Grown Little Man, to 2010’s Seriously Funny, 2011’s Laugh At My Pain, 2013’s Let Me Explain, 2016’s What Now, 2018’s Irresponsible and 2020’s Zero F’s Given.
Ratchford played an instrumental role in forming the material for those specials. Moreover; a superstitious Hart allows Ratchford to name all of his specials in hopes that the success would continue.
Helping Kevin to form HartBeat Productions in 2010, Harry was hired on as head writer. Ratchford wrote several developmental scripts for studios which included Greener (a man who no longer wants to be married pays a playboy to steal her away) and Ballers (LeBron James and Kevin Hart play brothers who compete against one another at a fantasy basketball camp) before co-writing Hart’s feature film, Night School for Universal.
Brendon Carter has been behind some of the industry's greatest moments. He also manages all post-production assembly and outline deliverables.
Brendon Carter’s credited work is featured on NBC, HGTV, Discovery, A&E, Bravo, Lifetime, MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, BET, Travel, Sony Pictures, Fox, Disney, Warner Bros., We, Aspire, SyFy, and more. His diverse portfolio of production work transverses across various genres and continues to evolve in the ever-changing landscape of the entertainment industry.
As the go-to for major network, cable, and production companies, Brendon Carter drives content from conception through completion. From writing narratives and overseeing the budgeting for series, pilots, presentation concepts, and format treatments to location scouting, footprint design, and handling large volumes of casting for competition game shows.

He is also co-host of Sirius XM Radio’s Straight From the Hart as well as an Executive Producer and cast member of Kevin Hart’s Muscle Car Crew airing on Motortrend and Roku. As well, one of the most seasoned stand up comedians in the world as a performing member of the comedy collective The Plastic Cup Boyz.
When he is not touring the world as a stand up comedian, he is often writing. Joey was a staff writer for BET’s NAACP IMAGE AWARD show, Real Husbands of Hollywood, Night School, starring Kevin Hart & Tiffany Haddish. MTV’s Movie Awards and MTV’s Video Music Awards.
He is also a consulting producer for the Laugh Out Loud Network and a producer of Comedy Central’s, “The Next Level”. These things are not what makes him great. His ability to defy the odds with a strong work ethic, dedication and at times wavering belief in himself makes him not only an inspiration, but highly qualified to motivate and encourage anyone to fulfill their purpose.
